How it works

  • Your file goes to one server of ours, where the SumDoc engine lays it out page by page — the same layout the SumDoc editor shows — and writes the PDF with the fonts embedded.
  • Older .doc files and .odt files are first read into a Word document. The engine reads the text and paragraphs of a .doc; formatting, tables and images are not carried yet — the page tells you exactly what was kept before you download.
  • Nothing in the file is executed, nothing is copied to analytics or third parties, and after 24 hours the file and the PDF are gone.

Questions

Does the PDF look like it does in Word?
Page breaks, fonts, lists, tables, images and headers follow the document's own layout; on the files we measured the page count matched Word page for page. Where the engine cannot draw something, it says so rather than guessing — the capabilities list is the full, dated account.
Is there a limit?
50 MB per file and two minutes of layout time here. The SumDoc app — free, for macOS, Windows, Linux, iPhone and Android — converts any size, offline, from the File menu.
What happens to my document?
It is stored on one server for at most 24 hours, read once by the engine to produce the PDF, and deleted. No account is created, no email is asked, and the link to the result is unguessable.
