What it repairs and what it does not
- Repairs: parts with a wrong checksum but readable content; worksheets garbled in a stretch of rows by an interrupted copy, a broken export or a cut-short download; a missing or stale calculation chain.
- Reports but does not repair: a file that is not a ZIP package at all (a CSV or HTML saved as .xlsx, or a file cut off before its directory), a password-protected workbook, the legacy .xls format, damage in the shared strings or styles that the sheets depend on. Those get a plain verdict and an address to write to.
- Never: recomputes, guesses or fills in values. A number that was in a garbled row is gone from the copy and named as gone.
Measured, 21 September 2026
A billing export of 251 KB uploaded by a user: two package parts with a wrong checksum, the worksheet garbled from row 2865 to row 4096. Excel offered to repair it and could not promise what it would keep. The repaired copy: rows 1–2864 and 4097 onward intact, every other part unchanged, 158 KB, opens in Excel 16 with no dialog. Reading and repair took under a second.
What happens to your file
- It is stored on one server, read part by part, and deleted after 24 hours or sooner. Nothing in it is executed — no macro, no query, no connection.
- Not copied to storage, analytics or third parties. If you leave an address, we write to you about this file and nothing else.
