A working draft with comments and tracked changes. Measured on the live node on 5 September: a plain brief appears in one to three seconds, a 24-page draft with tracked changes in three to four. The 32-page illustrated annual reports on the front page take longer still. The number here is what we measure, not what we hope.

One binary — turn a DOCX into a page

sumdoc renders a Word file into a self-contained HTML page that opens with a double-click: offline, view-only, and honest about anything it didn't draw. Scope today: on long text without page breaks the viewer can draw fewer pages than the layout has; the online tool then gives you the full PDF and says so.

In Thunderbird — edit an attachment and reply

An .xlsx, .xlsm, .docx or .pptx attachment opens in a real editor on your own computer, and the file you save is attached to a reply. The document never leaves the machine, and the reply is sent only by you. Two steps: the local program, then the add-on — the whole story is on the Thunderbird page.

The desktop apps — Linux, macOS, Windows

Straight from the release pipeline, with checksums. The buttons below always point at the latest published version; the version number and file size are read live from latest.json, so what you see is what you get.

Signed on both desktops. The Windows installers are signed by HEALTH INFORMATIC SECURITY SYSTEM, S.L. with a Microsoft timestamp — Windows shows that verified publisher when you run them. The macOS builds are signed and notarized by Apple. Either way, the SHA-256 next to each version matches the file you downloaded.

The editors as a server — self-hosted SumDoc and SumSheet

The same editors that run on this site's live examples, packaged as a server for your own system: every user and document gets its own process with the engine inside, the browser talks to it over WebSocket, and your files and accounts never leave you — the server asks your system who the user is and which file to open. Linux x86-64, Docker, 2 GB of RAM plus about 250 MB per open document. No internet needed after install.

Air-gapped install — the image as an archive, with checksums and the install guide next to it: SumDoc server (294 MB) · SumSheet server (211 MB). Each build ships from the same release as the desktop apps; the server's /health reports skewMin: 0 when editor and engine are from one release.

Already on Nextcloud? The same two images plug into the standard Nextcloud Office app — three steps, measured on a real macro workbook.

Two URLs from your side are all the integration is — who is this user and give me file N (a third one to accept saves); the user's own browser cookie is passed through, so there is no separate login. Layers, self-hosted — the workspace with the editors inside

If you do not have a system to embed into, Layers is ours: a self-hosted team workspace where documents and spreadsheets already open in SumDoc and SumSheet. The image is public on Docker Hub — over 20 000 pulls — and starts with one Compose file:

Install, HTTPS, updates and every tag: hub.docker.com/r/hissih/layers. The node needs 2 GB of RAM and PostgreSQL; voice and video calls come with it. 90 days at full speed to evaluate, then a key — 150 € a month up to 50 people, 400 € up to 200, no per-user counting; without a key the node keeps working, only slower on the machine paths (export, conversion, transcription).

You do not have to install anything to see the editors as a server: app.layers.md is our own Layers node, and the editors in it are exactly the server images above. Sign in (free), drop a .docx or .xlsx into a page, open it — that is SumDoc and SumSheet running as a service. The same editors, without an account, are on the live examples on the developers page.

The mobile SDK — Android and iOS

The same engine and page that ship in our own apps, packaged as a drop-in for yours, released under the same version number as each build. Three kits at 2026.4.3 — SumDoc (.docx / .docm), SumSheet (.xlsx / .xlsm) and SumSlide (.pptx): a document opens, it is edited, and the save hands the bytes back to your code.
